In March 2007 Michael was Guest Artist at the Conservatorio di Musica in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he worked with Luis Fred's trombone class.
During the three days he was in residence he gave lessons, conducted the trombone choir, presented a lecture entitled "The Musical Ethics of the Professional Musician" and played a recital in which he performed Martin Ballade, Stojowski Fantasie, Dutilleux Choral Cadence et Fugato, Mahler Songs: Wunderhorn and Rückertlieder, Wilkenschildt Impromtu and Martin Wesley Smith White Knight and Beaver.
On the 13th of March Michael appeared at the University of Utah where he presented a recital with Larry Zalkind. They performed the Boismortier Sonata in B flat, Belcke Adagio and Mozart Finale. Michael also performed White Knight and Beaver by Martin Wesley Smith. After the recital he gave a Masterclass for two students and presented a lecture on Brass Fundamentals and the Responsibilities and Opportunities of Classical Musicians.
SEPTEMBER APPEARANCES
On September 16th and 17th Music of the Baroque will be performing Haydn's The Seasons. The trombone section will be Michael Mulcahy, Peter Ellefson and Jared Rodin.
OCTOBER APPEARANCES
On Sunday October 14th, Michael will be presenting a masterclass and recital at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan with pianist Kathryn Goodson. The programme will include works by Martin, Dutilleux and a Lieder cycle.
On October 21st and 22nd the Chicago Chamber Musicians will be performing a world premiere of a brass quartet by Augusta Read Thomas and Variations on Smetana's Vysehrad Theme by Jan Koetsier.
On October 28th he will be presenting a recital, broadcast live on Chicago Classical Music station WFMT 98.7 at 3:00pm.
